How Much Impact Does Your Work Have
More than you know
What an Amazing Start to Convention Season!
At the beginning of May, I packed up my Alpha Red comics and headed to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for the Teach Them Diligently homeschool convention. It was the perfect place to begin this year’s journey of introducing Alpha Red to homeschool families since that’s where I started back in 2024.
One of the greatest blessings of the weekend was reconnecting with families who had already discovered Alpha Red at the previous convention. It is always encouraging when someone walks up to the table and immediately says, “I’ll take whatever is new.” Several families shared how much they enjoyed the comics and couldn’t wait to pick up the latest issues. As an independent creator, there is nothing quite like hearing that your work has become something a family genuinely looks forward to reading together.
Just as exciting was meeting so many new families for the very first time. To everyone who signed up for the email list, welcome! I am grateful that you decided to join me on this adventure.
I look forward to sharing the journey of creating Alpha Red—a fun, action-packed, faith-based comic book that is safe for the whole family. Whether you’ve been following Alpha Red from the beginning or just discovered him recently, I am thankful to have you along for the ride.
The trip itself was exhausting. Long hours, travel, setup, teardown, and conversations all day can wear you out.
But it was also incredibly fulfilling. Every conversation reminded me why I started creating Alpha Red in the first place: to provide exciting entertainment that points people toward faith, courage, and Truth.
Fast forward to this past weekend, and I just returned home from my second homeschool conference of the year—CHAP in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. This was my second year attending the convention, and once again I was grateful for all the returning fans who stopped by the table.
Many families shared how much they enjoyed Alpha Red, and hearing those stories never gets old. One of my favorite moments came from a friend of a mom who had picked up a set of Alpha Red comics last year. She later sent a video of her young son dressed in red, jumping from couch to couch while proudly shouting, “I am Alpha Red!”
Moments like that remind me that these stories are connecting with kids, young and old, in ways I never could have imagined.
In between conventions, I’ve also had the opportunity to do some fun creative projects. Recently, I participated in a livestream on the WhatNot app in conjunction with my local comic book shop. During the event, I created several sketch covers that are posted here.
One of the highlights was getting the chance to draw Optimus Prime on the shop wall, which was an absolute blast.
As exciting as convention season has been, work on the comic continues. I’m happy to report that I am now halfway finished with Alpha Red Issue #9. There is still plenty of work ahead, but I am excited about where the story is going. Here are some preview images from the issue so you can get a glimpse of what’s coming next.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth, picked up a comic, shared a story, signed up for the email list, or simply offered words of encouragement. Your support means more than you know. I can’t wait to share what comes next in the world of Alpha Red.
Until next time, Grace & Peace,

For the sketch covers, do you go straight to the pens or do you pencil anything in?
